2016 Chevy Camaro Engine Options

Ahead of its release at Harbin Automotive, we’re doing all that we can to provide Alabama drivers with all pertinent information related to the 2016 Chevy Camaro. We hope you have your pen and papers handy, because we’re here with the 2016 Chevy Camaro engine options, each of which will provide drivers with something special when the model arrives at Harbin Automotive in late summer of 2015. These are the three engines offered in the standard Camaro, while the offerings found in the ZL1 and Z/28 will be outlined in those models individual pages.

Standard for the 2016 Chevy Camaro is an all-new and exciting addition to the lineup. This is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, one that makes terrific use of the Camaro’s 200-pound dip in weight. All 2016 Camaro powertrains are offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission which, when paired with the 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque stirred up by the 2.0 Turbo, makes for an exciting performance profile indeed. Expected to return up to 30 highway mpg, this powertrain will likely be the choice who crave agility and fuel efficiency above all else.

Choose the 2016 Chevy Camaro Engine Option that best suits you!

As terrific as the 2.0 Turbo truly is, there are some drivers that might desire the beef and brawn of a V6. To that end, the 2016 Chevy Camaro has the ideal choice in the middle of the lineup: a 3.6L V6. Although it shares a configuration and displacement with an engine in the outgoing Camaro generation, this is in fact an all-new engine, one that uses Variable Valve Timing, updated Direct Injection and Active Fuel Management to deliver better fuel economy than before. And, in terms of power, it delivers here as well, to the tune of 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. It’s perfect as a middle-of-the-road option, matching driver desire for something powerful but also practical.

Topping the lineup is an engine that makes for the most powerful option ever found in a Camaro SS. The 6.2L LT1 V8 is a true terror on the blacktop that shares a pedigree with the Chevy Corvette, evident by its 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. It also uses a small-block construction, meaning that although it is incredibly powerful, it’s also light on its feet. Like the other Camaro engines, it also uses Direct Injection, Variable Valve Timing and Active Fuel Management to improve efficiency. Drivers will love the athleticism of this engine, exemplified by the sub-five-second 0-to-60 sprint, while the efficient nature will inspire loyalty as well.

Enjoy all of these engines at Harbin Automotive when the 2016 Chevy Camaro arrives in late summer of 2015!
