If you’ve been following the Ford truck lineup in the last few years, you’ve probably spent a fair bit of time salivating over the F-150 Raptor. It stands as the finest example of Ford’s dedication to high-performance pickups, and it’s getting a full overhaul for 2017. Care to see the fruits of Ford’s labor? Of course you do. Ladies and gents, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.

Ford was fully invested in cutting weight from the previous Raptor, so it got started by trimming under the hood. Gone is the bulky big-block V8 from before, and it’s been replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 that is expected to trump the output of the V8. Full numbers are yet to be revealed, but estimates put it above 450 hp. The 2017 Raptor will also be the first recipient of Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission, as well as a new four-wheel-drive transfer case with a terrain-mode system for traversing mud, snow, rocks and more.
All the power in the world ain’t gonna get you very far if your suspension isn’t up to the task. The Raptor’s new suspension is wider than it was previously, and features specialized springs with coils in front and leafs in back. It boasts 3-inch internal bypass Fox Racing shocks with more than 12 inches of travel as well, a sizeable gain over the previous model’s shocks. All of this rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, so drivers can expect a smoother ride than before as well.

As muscular as the outgoing Raptor was, this one is even more chiseled. Its rear haunches are decidedly more prominent than they were previously, and the beefy suspension requires a little more sculpting up front as well. The iconic “FORD” grille returns, while the front skid plate, fender vents and decals have evolved as well. All of this sits on 17-inch machined aluminum rims. In a word, “Yowza.”
