Here’s a fact that might surprise you: the Escape is Ford’s second best-selling model, behind only the F-150, which just happens to be the best-selling model overall nationwide for about 100 years. So, I guess you could say that this is no small accomplishment. Even more exciting is the announcement of the refreshed 2017 Ford Escape, which gets some exciting new tweaks when it arrives at Harbin Automotive in spring of 2016.

New Powertrain Lineup
Although the Escape already had one of the finest engine lineups in its class, the 2017 edition gets some needed enhancements to put it over the top. The standard powertrain returns, a naturally aspirated 2.5L inline four-cylinder, although there is a new addition in the middle of the lineup: a turbocharged 1.5L EcoBoost inline four-cylinder. Sitting at the top of the roster is another turbocharged option, a 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder boasting 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.

Quieter, More Spacious Cabin
Ford has been upfront about the desire to give customers what they want, and one of the largest concerns for prospective buyers was the need for more storage and less noise inside the cabin. Ford has improved the insulation, added acoustic glass and an underbody shield, and then made the side mirrors more aerodynamic to cut down on noise. Then, inside the cabin, the steering wheel and center stack have been redesigned, while the old lever-style parking brake has been replaced with a new electric parking brake.
Much has been written about the Ford Sync 3 infotainment system, which offers enhanced voice integration and a quicker processor to make streaming music and paging through navigation easier than ever before. The Escape is also the first model to launch the new Ford Sync Connect smartphone app, where users can check the fuel level, lock and unlock the doors, and even start the engine from a remote location.
