We already know that 2016 is going to be a huge year for Chevrolet. After all, this is when we’ll welcome restyled versions of both the Malibu and Equinox to our already-awesome lineup at Harbin Automotive. Now, we can add another exciting item to the list: the redesigned 2016 Chevy Spark. Our outstanding subcompact also gets a facelift, and now we’ve got the details. So, what should we expect from the new Spark?
An all-new powertrain. You might remember that previous edition of the Spark had a 1.2L four-cylinder under the hood. Not a bad platform by any means, but Chevy thought they could do better. The new powertrain offers better fuel economy–up to 40 highway mpg–while also boosting the horsepower by about a dozen. And, since it pairs with either a five-speed automatic transmission or a CVT to give drivers their choice of gearbox, it’s highly customizable as well.
All-new paint colors. When it arrived on the market, the Spark immediately set itself apart with its eye-catching hues. This is no less true of the 2016 model, which adds new colors such as Kalamata (a mild purple) and Splash (which takes cues from the Caribbean Sea). All told, the Spark is as vibrant to look at as it is to drive.
All-new safety features. The outgoing Spark was already ahead of most competitors when it came to safety. For the 2016 model, it adds available features such as the Side Blind Spot Alert to find vehicles out of view, the Rear Vision Camera to make reversing easier, and the Rear Park Assist to more capably get into tight spaces.
Terrific tech features. The Spark was already the first in its class to offer 4G LTE WiFi access, but now it’s easier to use and navigate. The Chevy MyLink interface has been updated, the 7-inch touchscreen is smoother and less cluttered, and the new Voice Pass-Through makes smartphone usage incredibly simple.
The 2016 Chevy Spark is expected to arrive at Harbin Automotive later this summer, so keep posted to our dealership’s website for details!
