2016 Chevy Malibu Release Date Huntsville AL
Next month when the New York Auto Show arrives in the Northeast, Chevy’s going to have something exciting to show us. That’s the word out of Chevrolet Corporate today, who dropped the mysterious image above as well as a press release touting the upcoming 2016 Chevy Malibu release date. So, what do we know beyond that the Malibu will be fully restyled and will likely be totally awesome? Let’s look at the tea leaves and see what we can deduce.
The first thing to jump out upon looking at the silhouette of the new Malibu is that it takes a decidedly more rear-sweeping theme to its logical extreme. This is something we’ve never seen from the Malibu before, nearly a fastback design. Ed Welburn, GM’s VP of Global Design, says, “The roofline has been stretched rearward giving giving a more sleek profile, while the front wheels have been moved forward and front and rear overhangs have been reduced. Along with the sculpted body side, these cues help the Malibu appear more dynamic and sophisticated.”
Of course, the Malibu hasn’t abandoned its sedan roots either, so the result will be something wholly different from what’s currently out there. And though the Malibu received a refresh only a couple of years ago, this next move forward is precisely what the midsize sedan segment needs. The 2016 Chevy Malibu adds four inches to its wheelbase, offering drivers increased rear legroom with a major improvement in overall interior space. Factor in the new higher-strength steel structure that trims 300 or so pounds off the curb weight, and the Malibu will also be more efficient and maneuverable than ever before as well.
All told, we expect the 2016 Chevy Malibu to turn the entire midsize segment on its head when it arrives at Harbin Automotive next fall. Keep posted to our website for updates on this exciting new model!
