Put away the pumpkins, pull out the turkeys! We’re only a few weeks from Thanksgiving in northern Alabama, and that means we’ve got some planning to do at Harbin Automotive. And while we busy ourselves with our famous Big Buck contest now getting underway, there are also many other events to consider. So, for your seasonal enjoyment, here are some 2015 Thanksgiving events in North Alabama to look into.
2015 Thanksgiving Events in North Alabama
22nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Hike — Thursday, November 26th — Huntsville
What better way to start your Thanksgiving than by getting out into nature? Over on the Mount Sano Nature Preserve, this hike features some of the area’s greatest hits, including the Alms House Trail and the Historic Three Caves. It’s roughly a 4-mile hike, it gets going at 9am, and it’s free of charge (donations appreciated).
Skating in the Park — Opens Friday, November 20 — Huntsville Museum of Art
While we don’t necessarily think of ice skating all that often in these parts, the onset of the holidays gives us a reason to reassess that notion. The Huntsville Museum of Art provides outdoor ice skating through the winter, opening up for the season just before Thanksgiving. There are group rates and skate rentals available, all of which can be found at the link above.
Galaxy of Lights — Opens Friday, November 13 — Huntsville Botanical Garden
Get the holidays off to a great start with the Galaxy of Lights, showing larger-than-life animated light displays. It’s fun for the whole family, and there are specially sponsored walking nights and dog-walking nights. There are also discounted group rates for vans and tour buses. Don’t miss it!
Various “Turkey Trot” Roadraces — All Thanksgiving Weekend
Many among us like to get out and take in a roadrace over the Thanksgiving weekend, so where to go? Here are a few: Skinny Turkey 5/10k, Guntersville, November 28th; 22nd Annual Turkey Trot, Huntsville, November 26th; Dirt Dash 5k Fun Run, Birmingham, November 14th.
We hope that these events give you an idea of what to do this Thanksgiving season, and hope that you’ll come see us soon at Harbin Automotive!
